Owner and Principal
Guided by many years working for esteemed practices, Laura Britt opened her own practice in Austin in 2001. Since that time, her practice has evolved into what it is today: a respected and established partner of local architects and developers with a long history of successful projects. As a registered interior designer, Laura is also recognized as a leader in sustainable design with a long lasting dedication to green building and healthy design practices. Most recently, this has culminated in her achievement of LEED Platinum in the construction of her personal residence.
Educated at Oklahoma State University, she has been twice honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award. Laura earned her Master’s degree in Architecture from The University of Texas at Austin, where she serves as a member of the Advisory Council for the School of Architecture. Laura has also served on the Austin Board of the American Society of Interior Designers, is an associate of the American Institute of Architects and is a proud member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council. In 2005, Laura launched Vervano, an ecologically derived, modern furniture line, which is handcrafted in the United States and is committed to preserving the world’s natural resources.
Laura possesses a deep understanding of architectural history and is comfortable working in a range of genres that reflect her client’s preferences. Using technical and conceptual abilities that she developed from her architectural experience, Laura is able to analyze and solve the broad range of functional concerns inherent in each project. Stylistically, Laura has a classic, refined design sensibility that allows her to take the client’s individual needs and apply them to a project that is timeless and enduring.
Director of Business Development
Haifa has over 20 years experience working for a number of award-winning design and architecture firms in the US and the UK. Having worked on both residential and commercial projects throughout her career, her experience reflects a diversity of projects ranging from high-end residential architecture and interior design, commercial interior design, historic preservation, large-scale master planning and workplace strategy. Haifa studied interior design on an undergraduate level at the University of Cincinnati and architecture and urban planning on a graduate level at Columbia University. Her own design work has been featured in Elle Décor and London magazine, and her houseware product line was sold by prestigious retailers in the US, the UK, and in Europe. Haifa spent the majority of her life in the Middle East and Europe and settled permanently in Austin in 2014.
Julie developed a strong appreciation for interior design from her interest in furniture design and jewelry making. She has taken these influences and combined them with strong technical skills, allowing her to develop a range of unique design schemes for many of Laura Britt Design’s custom speculative projects. She studied interior design at Texas State University where she also earned a minor in technology, and thereafter became a registered interior designer. Julie’s expertise in interior detailing coupled with her breadth of knowledge of space planning has enabled her to develop well-planned, well-designed residential and commercial solutions. Her most inspired projects stem from a collaborative approach established through strong client relationships.
With over 10 years of experience in commercial design, Bonnie has an extensive working background for a number of Fortune 500 companies, in sectors including government, legal, technology, and oil and gas. This gives her ample experience from which to oversee our multi-family and high-end spec projects. Bonnie’s work has encompassed a range of commercial design services from developing workplace standards, space planning, process strategy development and design documentation. Additionally, she brings a wealth of knowledge about furniture procurement, having led a team overseeing the 10,000 seat Houston campus of ExxonMobil, and establishing their workplace standards. Prior to her professional practice, Bonnie studied interior design at the University of Texas, Arlington and is a registered Interior Designer.
Born and raised in Oklahoma, Lauren studied journalism and strategic communications at the University of Kansas. She enjoyed a successful career in the creative profession of advertising, where she managed a large range of accounts from the arts to financial services, oil and gas and tourism. Following her natural passion, she went on to study Interior Design at the Art Institute of Austin. Lauren possesses a refined design sensibility with an emphasis on residential design, including fixture and finish specifications, lighting, custom furnishings and project management. The hallmark of her career has been her ability to fulfill client needs and provide the highest level of service coupled with her innate design skills which she brings to all of our projects. Lauren’s work has been strongly influenced by her extensive travels and her appreciation for fine art and historical architecture.
Daniela De Jongh
Daniela was an honor graduate student from the Art Institute of Houston prior to joining Laura Britt Design. Daniela assists the design team on construction documentation and specification writing, in addition to furnishings procurement.
Debbie’s diverse career has emphasized financial analysis and business management. After living and working in London, New York and Princeton, she finally returned to her home state of Texas. In her role as Finance Manager for Laura Britt Design, Debbie draws on years of experience gained in investment management, financial analysis, non-profit organization fundraising, and art gallery management. She particularly enjoys working in a creative environment where she can share her strong analytical skills in helping the business thrive. She majored in Finance and International Business at The University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business before earning her Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
With over 9 years of management and business development experience, Kendra oversees all the non-design functions that act as a backbone for our practice. Kendra’s internal process management ensures that we maintain a well-run firm by supporting our team in areas including IT, marketing, risk-management and business development. Kendra brings to this role not only an attention to detail but a broad knowledge and deep interest in the best practices for sustainable business building. In her time off Kendra enjoys triathlon training and is an avid mountain biker.
